The world is getting to be a smaller and smaller place thanks to the ever growing technology that is helping us all stay connected. The world satellite phone is one such device that helps to stay connected and that too through the satellite.

The world satellite phone may also be known as the sat phone which is like a mobile phone but it connects directly to the orbits in which the satellites operate. The connectivity depends upon how the system is built. It can get connected to the entire earth or it can be only region specific.

· The equipment of the sat phone or the world satellite phone varies. There are different terminals for them. The first satphones were as heavy as the first mobile phones in the 1980s. · It is legal to use them as per your requirements. But in countries like Burma it is considered to be illegal due to the extremist political regime. The cost of calling from a satellite phone can be exorbitant. It can cost you up to $13 to $15 to make one call for a minute and the receiver of the call will not be charged anything. Now you can get pre-paid vouchers for such phones too. But they range from $ 10 to $ 5000.
